Hook Lighthouse.

While in Ireland we also visited Hook Lighthouse, : - )

The drive up to the Lighthouse was really interesting, and you pass this amazing mansion which apparently plays host to special events such a catwalks etc... and is soon to open as a hotel!
Which would be incredible,,

you can only gain access to the lighthouse with a guided tour which run every half hour or so,,,,
the tour itself was pretty interesting and funny as the little Irish guy showing is around was so happy and excited ; - ) and inside the lighthouse was structurally interesting..

and of course the view from the viewing deck at the top of the lighthouse has the most beautiful views!

This is what the website has to say for itself,,,,,,,,,, X

THE OLDEST INTACT OPERATIONAL LIGHTHOUSE IN THE WORLD

Lonely Planet Guide has listed Hook as the no.1 Flashiest Lighthouse in the World

Lighthouses have a magic and mysticism of their own, none more so than the 13th Century Hook Lighthouse.

The present structure is about 800 years old and is the oldest intact operational Lighthouse in the world. Hook Lighthouse offers guided tours of the lighthouse tower all year round. Climb the 115 steps to the spectacular view from the balcony.

All the photos on this blog on my own unless stated, if you wish to use any please e-mail me X

Take Two Brainwashing.

Heres is my take two post of the Mr Brainwash exhibition,,,,,

I went for the second time to have another good look around as the first time I didn't spend that long there and didn't take as many good photos as I would have liked too..........

and I lost my poster so I wanted to pick up another : - )

Besides I think that it is a good idea to visit an exhibition twice (especially if it is free) as you always manage to spot something that you didn't notice the first time around.

It does slightly annoy me when stuff is displayed like this,,,,, as you cant get a good look at the stuff right at the top... or as good picture

LOVE.

Here is sneak into my new favourite magazine, LOVE!

Its nice and weighty as you would always want, the imagery is beautiful, and the talking points are current, interesting and introduce you to a variation of new, interesting and exciting designers and artists,,,, : - )

The magazine always has a selection of different cover images for you to chose from, which makes you magazine feel that bit more personal and special.

The cover I went for featured Downton Abbeys Laura Carmichael or also known as Lady Edith.

This has to be my favourite advert in the whole magazine!

Reminds me of childhood, and my love for the book 'Where the wild things are' : - )

.

I also found this collection of images shown below incredibly interesting, if you cant read the text on the photo Love magazine basically burnt, ripped, paint, shred and then 'flowerbed six key pieces from the Diesel autumn/winter 2012 womenswear collection, to see what they would look like after six weeks underground'.

They instantly reminded me of some similar pieces I saw, I think it was at the Victor & Rolf show at the Design Museum a while back, but I couldn't find any of my pictures of any on the internet...

Another thing that you can't really note about this magazine through pictures is the fact that they have also printed these photos onto more interesting matt, textural paper...
and in previous issues they have printed on metallic paper which was pretty interesting.

The images are divine! And perfect for a textile student,,,,, they give you a real good look at the materials which you cant find anywhere else!

and some incredibly interesting images!

What should you do now?!?!?

Logan Hicks: Structural Integrity.

I recently visited the Logan Hicks exhibition at The Outsiders Gallery in SoHo, which I think is now finished.

It you managed to make it down there to have a look I am sure that you will agree with me on just how amazing the work was.....
I found it quite impossible to add up just how these images could have been made by a human using hand-cut stencils...?!?!?!

seriously WTF.

It made me and my stencil cutting attempts feel VERY VERY lazy....

there were details and colours to these stencils which are just impossible to show in a photograph,

but just to give you an idea.....

and some photographs from a walk I took along the Thames,,,,,

typically at the time I decided to go and look at the Olympic Rings they weren't down and we ended up waiting ages and walking pretty far before they appeared. But the night sky made it worthwhile! : - )

Mr. Brainwash: Life is Beautiful.

Today Kate and I made a visit to the Mr. Brainwash exhibition in the Old Sorting Office at 21 New Oxford Street.

Kate isn't the biggest fan of Thierry Guetta, I think his exit through the Gift Shop antics didn't work wonders. But on the other hand I rather enjoyed the exhibition, loved the work, had a great time having a look around, especially at the selection of framed prints scattered around the walls just around the corner from the entrance and would completely recommend a trip!

You also get a free print and post card when your leaving, which is a lovely touch! Kate and I also though that a canvas tote or something would have been a good alternative, and a good form of cheap advertising while hanging on the shoulders of many Hipsters. ; - )

But, while we explored me and Kate also discussed the sense of or indeed at some points the somewhat lack of creativity and individuality? Which is a factor that I have heard mentioned a lot in relation to MBW...

But to be frank, put me in a room full of bright colours, interesting textures, pop art and Andy Warhol references.... I'm happy
whereas Kate I think is more of a fan of the more 'intellectual' art form.....

located in a nice urine scented doorway just outside the exhibition........... : - )

and then after all that,,,,

a much needed Costa!

Kate gloriously rolling her print!
